Service Battery 319th Field Artillery - May 1942

Camp Claiborne, Louisiana

The 319th Field Artillery, an element of the 82d Division, (later redesignated as the 82d Airborne Division) was ordered into active military service March 25, 1942 and reorganized at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana.

Pictured below is a group photo of the Service Battery, 319th Field Artillery, taken May, 1942. Captain James C. Todd, Commanding.

The battalion would later move to Fort Bragg, North Carolina as a direct support Headquarters Battery of the 82nd Airborne Division Artillery.
