Operation Husky was a major campaign of World War 2 in which the Allies invaded the island of Sicily. Husky began on the night of 9–10 July 1943, and ended on 17 August.
On July 16, 1943, the Headquarters Battery of the 82nd Airborne Division Artillery consisting of 7 officers and 37 enlisted men, took off from Kairouan, Tunisia in C-47 planes and landed at Porte Olivio airport, 12 miles north of Gela, Sicily, at 1500 hours. The following historical record of Unit Journals chronicles their movements.
On August 18, 1943, following the departure of General Taylor and Colonel March, the HQ Battery returned to J field, Kairouan, Tunisia. Journal closed.
