Leonard Eisner registered for the draft on October 16, 1940. Born May 28, 1913, he was from Clere, Ohio and was employed by Cummers Product Company located in Maple Heights, Ohio. He enlisted in the US Army on March 26, 1942, at Camp Perry, Lacarne, Ohio.
This twenty-seven-year-old was 5’-8”, 140 pounds with a light complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair and had no physical characteristics listed.
He became a member of C-Battery, 319th Field Artillery, stationed at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. Later transferred to A-Battery of the 319th Glider field Artillery, 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina,
PVT Eisner traveled with the battalion to North Africa arriving in Casablanca May 10, 1943.

He fought in the major campaigns of Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Normandy, Holland, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
Military qualifications; Glider Wings, Combat Infantry Badge and Marksman Rifle.
His service was awarded with the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Merit Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, European/African Middle Eastern Service Medal with six bronze service stars, and one bronze service arrowhead.
The Adjusted Service Rating Score (ASR) was a system the U.S. Army used at the end of the war to determine when soldiers were eligible for discharge. PVT Eisner was one of many “High Point” soldiers with a score over 85 points and discharged from the military on September 23, 1945.
Leonard Eisner, 77, died October 26, 1990.
