Ernest Paul Raulerson registered for the draft on February 16, 1942. Born May 6, 1921, he was from Plant City, Florida and was not employed at the time of registration. However, he became a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, (CCC) where he was stationed in Carmel, California.
This twenty-year-old was 6’-0”, 165 pounds with a light brown complexion, blue eyes, brown hair and had no obvious physical characteristics listed that would aid in identification.
He was released from the CCC after seven years and enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 2, 1942. He became a member of the 319th Artillery Battalion, 82nd Division, then stationed at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana.
In August 1942, PVT Raulerson became a member of the 319th Glider Field Artillery, 82nd Airborne Division, A-Battery, a combat glider unit stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Following his training he traveled with the battalion to North Africa arriving in Casablanca May 10, 1943,
