Enos Buckner

Enos Edward Buckner registered for the draft on July 1, 1941. Born February 7, 1920, he was from Martinsville, Illinois. At the time of his registration he was employed by his father, Mr. Clayton Buckner.
This twenty-one-year-old was 5-11, 172 pounds with a dark complexion, brown eyes, and brown hair. There were no identifying marks listed on his registration card.
He entered active service on March 20, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois and became a member of the 319th Field Artillery, B-Battery, of the 82nd Airborne Division.
Following his training at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, then PVT Buckner traveled with the battalion to North Africa arriving in Casablanca on May 10, 1943.
He fought in the major campaigns of Naples-Foggia, Normandy, Holland, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. His service was awarded with the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Merit Badge, European/African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four bronze service stars, one bronze service arrowhead, four overseas service bars and one service stripe.
