Arthur Haines a replacement soldier and transferred into B-Battery of the 319th from the 456th Field Artillery. The 319th was stationed in Market Harborough, England, at the time. Based on his enlistment date of July 2, 1943, his first combat was Normandy. After hostilities ceased he did not have enough points to go home and transferred to Berlin for occupational duties. He had 66 points in July 1945. He was discharged from the service on January 3, 1946, so he most probably returned to the USA aboard a liberty ship late December 1945.
