Inducted into the US Army on March 23, 1942 at Fort Hayes, Columbus, Ohio, this thirty-year-old was 5-10, 170 pounds with a light complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair with no physical characteristics listed to aid in identification.
Private Roberts became a member of the 319th Field Artillery, HQ-Battery of the 82nd Airborne Division, and traveled with the battalion aboard the SS Santa Rosa to North Africa arriving in Casablanca May 10, 1943. He served as a radioman for the 319th.
Later promoted in rank to Staff Sergeant he fought in four (4) battles and campaigns; Sicilian, Naples-Foggia, Normandy and Market Garden/Holland.

He was also the recipient of the Victory Medal, Distinguished Unit emblem with Oak Leaf cluster, French Fourragere, Netherlands Orange Lanyard and the Purple Heart.
S/Sergeant Albert Roberts was first reported MIA after his HQ Battery gliders landed in Zyfflich then reported KIA September 18, 1944 while serving with the 319th field Artillery, 82nd Airborne Division, over Germany.
